An Amtrak train coming into Chicago from Grand Rapids, Michigan ran into the back of a stopped freight train this afternoon. The crash happened on Chicago's south side. The engine from the Amtrak train hit the rear end of a Norfolk Southern freight train which was hauling shipping containers. An Indiana newspaper came out with a piece recently documenting the high number of accidents involving motorcycles and cars. An Indiana teen is under arrest after he struck a telephone pole and then fled the scene. Two weeks ago, a DuPage County prosecutor was killed in a car crash in which she crossed over the center line. The prosecutor had been drinking most of the afternoon, and had a .25 blood alcohol level at the time of the crash. Monday's horrific school bus accident is in the news again because authorities have learned that the bus driver was drunk at the time of the crash. A South Carolina boy is recovering from injuries sustained when he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. NBC News had a recent feature on a little-known statute which requires persons injured in accidents with the CTA to provide the CTA with a special statutory notice. If the notice is not completed or if information is missing or wrong, then the lawsuit gets dismissed.
