Batavia Head-on Crash Results in Death, Injuries

About 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, a tragic head-on collision took place west of Batavia in unincorporated Kane County.

According to police, a Ford Econoline van was northbound on Fabyan Parkway between Main Street and Hughes Road when it passed cars in a no-passing zone and struck a Chevy TrailBlazer. The driver of the Trailblazer, Craig Smith, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified Reginald Hearon, 48, of Plano as the driver of the van. Hearon was injured and was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva. He was cited withpassing in a no-passing zone, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
