An Amtrak train derailed on Monday evening after a set of wheels jumped the track.

There were 112 passengers aboard Lincoln Service Train 304. The train remained upright, and no one was injured, according to Amtrak.

The train was headed from St. Louis to Chicago. The derailment happened just south of Joliet. There were only 3 stops left: Joliet, Summit and Chicago’s Union Station. Passengers stayed on the train and waited for buses to transport them to their destination stops.

as one of the passengers on 307 headed to St. Louis, Amtrak handled this very poorly. The train derailed at 7:50pm and we were not put on buses until 11:30pm It seemed once they decided we were to be shipped on buses the rest of the way to St. Louis, they were done with us. No one was there to tell us which bus to take, we were just on our own. Furthermore the bus driver was only told about stops in Bloomington, Springfield and St. Louis. No one mentioned to him the smaller stops. He did not know where he was going and relied on passengers to give him directions. We left Chicago Union Station at 7pm 9/8 and were supposed to arrive in St. Louis at 12:30am. We finally pulled into the amtrak station slightly before 7am 9/9

Where are all the people that spent the night and were so rudely kicked out into the streets in Chicago at 5:30 am?
